We’re turning one!

We’re celebrating our first birthday!

One year since we started building Fundsorter, 4.5 months since we started bringing on customers. There’s a lot to celebrate: the literally hundreds of community organisations using our service; the positive feedback; the opportunities for improvement; the potential positive impact on communities across Aotearoa.

I love that we are trying to solve a persistent problem using emerging technology. I love how much time can be repurposed towards coal face community work just by improving funding processes. Our goal is to create efficiency, reduce the funding burden, increase equity, and gather data to support systemic change.

I believe in what we’re doing. And most days I absolutely love it. The freedom and flexibility, the ability to pivot and move priorities, respond to customer needs, the problem solving, the possibilities. Other days - the minority - are hard. Long hours, juggling family and community commitments, being aware that the product isn’t quite where you want it to be (ie. impatience and ambition). Being a co-founder is a wild ride.

I am luckier than most. I work alongside smart, skilled co-founders Alanna Irving, Joshua Vial and Rod Macdonald whose skills balance my own, and, of course, a broader team of staff and supporters who have, and continue to, make all the mahi possible. And so today I want to celebrate a year of effort, a year of risk and possibility and opportunity. But mostly I want to celebrate the power of the collective. None of us can do this mahi alone, but together we can shift big rocks.
