Frequently Asked Questions
About Fundsorter
What is Fundsorter?
Fundsorter is an easy and friendly tool that helps community groups, incorporated societies and registered charities find and apply for grant funding opportunities.
Sign up and tell us about your organisation. Upload information such as strategy documents, annual reports, and links to your website. We use that information to build an organisational profile. Whenever you need funding, simply fill in a funding request form and Fundsorter will match you with funding opportunities that fit your funding needs. If you want to apply, Fundsorter will instantly draft answers to the application questions, which you then review, edit, and submit.
We know that community organisations are spending 2-20 hours on each applicatios. We want to reduce that by 90%, so you can spend less itime chasing grants and more time creating change.
How does Fundsorter help community organisations?
We save you time: Our goal is to simplify and streamline the time consuming task of searching for grants and writing applications. We find the grants - our system can compare your needs to thousands of funding opportunities in just a few minutes, and we draft the applications - it takes our system just a few seconds, instead of hours.
We make sure you don’t miss out on opportunities: Our system has literally thousands of up to date opportunities, and we’ll scan them to let you know which ones might be a fit for you. We’ll also let you know about upcoming funding opportunities and send you a reminder when they open.
We level the playing field: Not every organisation has the resources to hire a fundraiser or professional grant writer, and for many, navigating the complex world of funding can feel overwhelming. Fundsorter is designed to make applying for grants simple, accessible, and equitable for everyone, regardless of your skill level, language ability, or experience. By removing barriers and simplifying the process, we help ensure that great ideas get the support they deserve, no matter who’s behind them.
Do I have to be a registered charity to use Fundsorter?
No. We can also serve incorporated societies and community groups.
We don’t serve individuals, or for-profit businesses.
What types of funding opportunities can Fundsorter match us with?
Our database is focused on contestable grant funding. Our system includes both local and international funders. That means we include local government, central government, gaming trusts, community foundations, community trusts, family foundations and corporate foundations.
We occasionally include sponsorship opportunities where they are commonly requested items (such as trees for tree planting or kai for events).
We don’t include loans, individual scholarships, RFP information, or any funder that is proactive and doesn’t want to be approached. We are adding to our funding opportunities and updating them every week.
How accurate is the funding opportunity matching process?
Fundsorter uses advanced algorithms to match you with relevant opportunities based on multiple factors, including strategic alignment, timing and eligibility criteria. We may also ask you supplementary questions or provide commentary about the strength of the fit. You can then choose which applications to progress with. We expect our system to get it right about 85% of the time - you will always need to read through the opportunities to make sure they fit your organisations values and needs.
Can Fundsorter do my whole funding application?
Our tool will draft answers to the questions in the selected funding applications, but you still need to review and submit your application. The tool provides a great start, but nobody knows your work better than you! Your unique insights and understanding are crucial for a compelling application. Many application processes also require extra information like bank account details, which you’ll need to provide (where possible, we’ll give you a helpful checklist of the further steps and requirements relevant to a given grant).
Are applications tailored to each specific funder?
Yes. Fundsorter analyses the requirements and preferences of each funder and adapts the application and language accordingly. It considers factors such as the funder's mission, past funded projects, and specific guidelines. If you don’t like the draft text provided, you can give feedback and we’ll redraft the material for you instantly. You review all material before submitting the application to funders.
Can I use Fundsorter for multiple funding applications?
Oh absolutely! Fundsorter is designed to handle multiple applications, concurrently or over time. You can work on different funding opportunities at the same time, and the system will keep each application separate and tailored to its specific funder.
Can we have multiple logins?
Yes, you can have multiple users under one charity number to collaborate on applications or work on different ones in parallel. But you need a separate subscription for each charity you want to use Fundsorter with.

Does Fundsorter use AI?
Yes, we use AI for some aspects of our service. However, your information is not permanently uploaded to AI training databases. Is my data secure when using this AI tool?

At present we are using Open AI as our LLM. You can find OpenAI’s privacy policy here. OpenAI keeps data for 30 days to detect misuse but delete your information after that.
Can we access, remove, check or change the information you hold about us?
Yes, currently this is done through customer support but over time we will build more features for you to access, edit, and delete your data directly.
